About
AbleMind Counseling

AbleMind Counseling is a telehealth-based mental health practice specializing in serving individuals with disabilities—including high school and college-aged students with disabilities—and young adults navigating the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood. We provide therapy exclusively through secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions, offering accessible, flexible, and confidential care across Wisconsin.

While our expertise lies in supporting clients with disabilities, we welcome and work with all clients with all abilities. Our inclusive, strengths-based approach addresses a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, academic stress, life transitions, self-esteem, and more.

At AbleMind Counseling, we are committed to creating a safe, affirming space where every client feels heard, respected, and empowered to grow. Using evidence-based practices, we help individuals build resilience, develop self-advocacy skills, and work toward lasting emotional wellness—from the comfort of their own space.

We believe every mind is capable, every voice matters, and everyone deserves support that meets them where they are.

Our Story

AbleMind Counseling was created from a deep belief that mental health care should be accessible, affirming, and grounded in genuine understanding. For many individuals—especially those with disabilities—traditional therapy spaces can feel inaccessible, misunderstood, or disconnected from their lived experience. AbleMind Counseling exists to change that.

Founded by Alexis in 2026, a Wisconsin native, therapist, and person with lived experience of disability, AbleMind Counseling is rooted in both professional expertise and personal insight. Born without the lower portion of both arms, Alexis has spent more than seven years working with and advocating alongside individuals with disabilities. This lived experience shapes a practice built on empathy, respect, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and self-determination.

AbleMind Counseling was designed to remove barriers to care by offering fully virtual, HIPAA-compliant therapy across Wisconsin—allowing clients to access support in a way that fits their lives.

At its core, AbleMind Counseling is about creating a space where clients feel seen, valued, and capable. Through a strengths-based, collaborative approach, clients are supported in building resilience, developing self-advocacy skills, and working toward meaningful, lasting emotional wellness.

Because every mind is capable.
Every voice matters.
And everyone deserves care that truly meets them where they are.

Our Services

15-Minute Counseling Consultation

This is a brief, introductory meeting to see if you and your counselor are a good fit for each other, allowing you to discuss goals, logistics, ask questions, and learn more about the counselor's approach without providing in-depth therapy. This is at no cost to you.

50-Minute Counseling Session

This 50-minute counseling session provides a safe, confidential space for clients to explore personal challenges, gain insight, and develop practical coping strategies. The extended time frame allows for deeper discussion, reflection, and skill-building without feeling rushed.
